Despre eveniment

Just Breathe este numele celei de-a 7-a ediții a congresului RoVECCS și va avea ca subiect principal pacientul brahicefalic.

Odată cu explozia „modei” câinilor cu bot aplatizat, s-au ivit și o serie de probleme pe care le întâlnim din ce în ce mai des și pe care am hotărât să le abordăm în această ediție.

Congresul se va desfășura la fel ca anul trecut, în spațiul virtual. Pentru a doua oară ne bucurăm să fim găzduiți de către VIN, cea mai mare platformă veterinară care oferă resurse extrem de valoroase membrilor săi.
Nu este necesar să fiți membri VIN pentru a vă înscrie la congres, tot ce aveți de făcut este să urmați instrucțiunile primite ulterior înscrierii, instrucțiuni care vor fi comunicate pe adresa de e-mail.

Congresul va fi structurat în 2 zile de conferință, cu prezentări susținute de 7 lectori diplomați, un rezident și o asistentă-șefă. Locurile sunt limitate, pentru a permite o bună desășurare a evenimentului live. Prezentările vor fi numai în limba engleză, deoarece ele vor fi găzduite pe plaforma din SUA.

  • 2015 – primul congres la MNAC (Muzeul Național de Artă Contemporană) în cadrul Palatului Parlamentului.
        200 participanți & 4 speakeri (Dan Chan DACVECC, Aidan McAlinden DECVS, Louise Clark DECVAA și Sérgio Guilherme MRCVS.
  • 2016 & 2017 – edițiile a 2-a și a 3-a au adus un număr mai mare de participanți (250+)
        4 workshopuri, petreceri la superlativ și evenimente sociale calde și primitoare.

Evenimentul este acreditat de către Colegiul Medicilor Veterinari din România cu 30 puncte în scop de documentare sau organizator /zi, conform criteriilor Programului de Dezvoltare Profesională Continuă.
Notă: Listele cu participanți la conferințele virtuale vor fi puse la dispoziția RoVECCS cu scopul de a valida punctele EC. RoVECCS va emite diplomele după sesiunile live. Diplomele vor fi trimise prin e-mail la adresa utilizată la înregistrarea la eveniment. Vă rugăm să verificați căsuța electronică în inbox și în spam. Dan O'Neill

After 22 years in general practice, Dan was awarded a PhD in 2014 at the Royal Veterinary College (RVC) for developing the VetCompass™ Programme. Dan is Associate Professor in Companion Animal Epidemiology at the RVC where he co-leads the VetCompass™ Programme. He has authored over 100 papers from 2012 to 2021 covering various aspects of breed health and therapeutics in companion animals. He co-authored the books ‘Breed Predispositions to Disease in Dogs and Cats’ and ‘Health and Welfare of Brachycephalic (Flat-faced) Companion Animals’. He chairs the UK Brachycephalic Working Group and is a founding member of the International Collaborative on Extreme Conformation in Dogs. Dan was awarded a Fellowship of the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons in 2018, the BSAVA Blaine Award for Advancement of Small Animal Science in 2019 and the International Canine Health Award from the Kennel Club Charitable Trust in 2021. Dr. Thomovsky graduated from the University of Missouri in 2001 and pursued an internship at University of Illinois.  She was a general practitioner for three years prior to pursuing her residency in 2008.  She became a faculty member first at University of Wisconsin and now at Purdue University where she is currently a Clinical Associate Professor in the Small Animal Emergency and Critical Care section.

Dr. Attilio Rocchi studied Veterinary Medicine at Pisa University in Italy, where he achieved the title of Dr. med.vet in 1999. He first moved to Kenya where he worked as Assistant Manager at Marula dairy farm. Back to Europe at the end of 2000, he worked in different small animal clinics and hospital in Italy, where he discovered and cultivated his passion for veterinary anaesthesia and emergency medicine. In 2006, he moved to Austria to become a Resident of the European Colllege of Veterinray Anaesthesia and Analgesia (ECVAA) at the University of Veterinary Medicine of Vienna, Austria (Vetmeduni). After completing the program in 2010, he worked as Lecturer and Senior Anaesthetist for 2 years at the Universidad Alfonso X el Sabio in Madrid. After covering a Locum for 6 months at the Vetsuisse-Fakultät in Zürick, Dr. Rocchi moved back to the Vetmeduni in April 2013. Since 2014 he is an ECVAA Diplomate. To the present days, he works as Senior Lecturer and Clinician at the Clinical Department fort Anaesthesia and perioperative Intensive Medicine at the Vetmeduni. Dr. Rocchi dedicates his free time to his family and his 3 kids, and to his interest for graphic arts, including computer graphic and tattooing.

Lynda Rutherford

Lecturer in Small Animal Surgery

Lynda Rutherford graduated from the Royal (Dick) Veterinary School, University of Edinburgh in 2005. She worked in mixed practice in Cheshire for 10 months before working in a busy first opinion Small Animal hospital for 3 years. She completed a Small Animal rotating internship at the Royal Veterinary Collage (RVC) in 2010 and a Small Animal Surgical Residency also at the RVC in 2014 being coming an ECVS and RCVS recognised specialist in small animal surgery. She is currently a Senior Lecturer in small animal surgery at the Royal Veterinary Collage (RVC), London. Lynda enjoys working in RVC’s busy referral hospital and enjoys the challenge of complex surgical patients. Lynda is passionate about trying to improve the welfare for brachycephalic patients and is always investigating new ways to improve the airways of these breeds.

Emily Gorman qualified as a Registered Veterinary Nurse in 2005, before being awarded the inaugural Nursing Scholarship at Glasgow University Vet School where she carried out a year’s nursing internship. She went on to specialise in exotic species, gaining her Certificate in Nursing of Exotic Species in 2007. She pursued her interest working with exotics for several years both in the UK and abroad before developing an interest in Emergency and Critical Care. She attained her Certificate of Veterinary Nursing in Emergency and Critical Care in 2015, and has worked in ECC in both first opinion and referral centres. Since joining the Royal (Dick) School of Veterinary Studies in 2016 as the Senior ICU nurse, she has helped to develop the ECC service, undertaken externships in the UK and USA, been awarded an Associate Fellowship of the Higher Education Authority and has completed her Vet Tech specialism (VTS) in ECC. She has lectured at conferences both nationally and internationally. She is a RECOVER certified BLS Rescuer and also works as a phlebotomist for the Pet Blood Bank. Her main interests include CPR and transfusion medicine.

Andra Enache

Andra graduated from the University of Agronomical Sciences and Veterinary Medicine Bucharest, Romania in 2011. After working in general practice, Andra moved to UK in 2013 to complete a small animal general internship in Manchester, followed by work in general practice for a few years before completing a specialised ophthalmology internship at the Animal Health Trust, in Newmarket in 2017. In the meantime, she also undertook doctoral studies on uveitis in dogs and cats and was awarded the BSAVA PGCert Small Animal Ophthalmology certificate with distinction (in 2019). Andra completed a three-year ophthalmology residency and Master of Veterinary Medicine at the Royal Veterinary College, London in July 2020 and has been a Diplomate of the European College of Veterinary Ophthalmology since September 2021. She currently works as an ophthalmology specialist at North Downs Specialist Referrals, UK.

Andrea Holmes

Andrea is a European Specialist in Internal Medicine and has experience of working within clinics both in the UK and Australia. Andrea graduated from the University of Bristol in 2011 and worked in small animal practice prior to completing an internship at Davies Veterinary Specialists in Hertfordshire. She then completed a residency in Internal Medicine at Bristol in 2017 and went on to achieve her diploma in Small Animal Internal Medicine. Since then, Andrea has worked at The Animal Health Trust in Suffolk and also at the internationally renowned SASH (Small Animal Specialist Hospital) in Sydney. Andrea returned to her home county of Yorkshire in 2019 and has been working at Paragon even since. 

Andrea has a keen interest in infectious disease and post graduate teaching for nurses and vets. She has developed an internal medicine residency program at Paragon and is passionate about antimicrobial stewardship. Outside of work Andrea has entered the fascinating world of open water swimming. She is hoping to get some of her colleagues to come along and dip their toes in!

Jonathan Powers
DVM

Dr. Jon Powers is currently a radiology resident at Veterinary Specialty Center (VSC), a small animal specialty and emergency hospital near Chicago, Illinois. He obtained his veterinary degree from the University of Illinois in 2019. He joined VSC in June, 2019 first as a small animal rotating intern, and stayed on for a radiology residency starting in July, 2020. While he enjoys all aspects of veterinary imaging his special interests include abdominal ultrasound, CT, and interventional procedures.
